Pre-explosion Helium Shell Flash in Type Ia Supernovae

چکیده
Abstract I study the possibility that within frame of core degenerate (CD) scenario for type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) merger process asymptotic giant branch (AGB) star and white dwarf (WD) maintains an envelope mass ≈0.03 M ⊙ causes a later helium shell flash. estimate number pre-explosion flash events to be less than few per cent all CD SNe Ia. A while moves left on HR diagram as post-AGB (late thermal pulse—LTP) or along WD cooling track (very LTP—VLTP) expand become “born again” AGB star. Merger remnants exploding still form hydrogen-polluted peculiar Ia, explosion inside inflated born-again results in early flux excess light curve SN The fraction systems might show due LTP/VLTP is <few × 10 −4 much below observed fraction. In with result from ejecta collision planetary nebula fallback gas, mixing 56 Ni outer regions ejecta. Ongoing sky surveys find about one case year where influences curve.

A common explosion mechanism for type Ia supernovae.
Type Ia supernovae, the thermonuclear explosions of white dwarf stars composed of carbon and oxygen, were instrumental as distance indicators in establishing the acceleration of the universe's expansion. However, the physics of the explosion are debated. Here we report a systematic spectral analysis of a large sample of well-observed type Ia supernovae. Mapping the velocity distribution of the ...
متن کاملType Ia Supernovae
Type Ia Supernovae are in many aspects still enigmatic objects. Their observational and theoretical exploration is in full swing, but we still have plenty to learn about these explosions. Recent years have already witnessed a bonanza of supernova observations. The increased samples from dedicated searches have allowed the statistical investigation of Type Ia Supernovae as a class. The observati...
متن کاملNucleosynthesis in Type Ia Supernovae
Among the major uncertainties involved in the Chandrasekhar mass models for Type Ia supernovae are the companion star of the accreting white dwarf (or the accretion rate that determines the carbon ignition density) and the flame speed after ignition. We present nucleosynthesis results from relatively slow deflagration (1.5 3 % of the sound speed) to constrain the rate of accretion from the comp...
متن کاملDust around Type Ia supernovae
An explanation is given of the low value of Rλ ≡ Aλ/E(B − V ), the ratio of absolute to selective extinction deduced from Type Ia supernova observations. The idea involves scattering by dust clouds located in the circumstellar environment, or at the highest velocity shells of the supernova ejecta. The scattered light tends to reduce the effective Rλ in the optical, but has an opposite effect in...
متن کاملCosmology with Type Ia supernovae
Since 1998 (Riess et al. 1, Perlmutter et al. 2), surveys of cosmologically distant Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) have indicated an acceleration of the expansion of the Universe, distant SNe Ia being dimmer that expected in a decelerating Universe. With the assumption that the Universe can be described on average as isotropic and homogeneous, this acceleration implies either the existence of a fl...
